At Be Untitled, we are dedicated to sustainability ensuring that we bring only the finest and fairest cashmere to our clients.
Since the COVID crisis, people have become more conscious of what they consume, even choosing to consume less. They seek not only clothing but a lifestyle—one that embodies elegance and inner peace, both of which are more necessary than ever. Prioritizing personal health as well as the planet’s has become essential, and knowing the ecological impact of our wardrobe is minimized brings peace of mind.
In their search for sustainable knitwear, Vivien and Floris found themselves in Mongolia. After an extensive market study, including within Europe, it turned out that our ideal partners were in Mongolia. Our suppliers uphold the highest ethical standards in both animal welfare and transparency. In fact, some of them helped establish these standards.
From responsible herding and eco-friendly fiber processing to traditional craftsmanship, nothing is left to chance. For example, the goats graze at a specific altitude where temperatures are warm during the day and very cold at night, which results in coats that are highly breathable and versatile. It’s about more than just clothes; they aim to create a product that reflects their respect for the environment, animals, communities, and traditions.
Inspired by their efforts in the industry, we have teamed up with a partner who integrated rigorous traceability standards to guarantee the quality and ethical sourcing of their cashmere. Since 2019, they have embraced innovative animal welfare and supply chain transparency approaches, setting high benchmarks that reflect our values. Our collaboration with a supplier who collaborates with leading authorities in cashmere traceability enables us to meticulously verify the origin and integrity of every batch we use, reinforcing our pledge to responsible and sustainable fashion.
Our cashmere is sourced from the pristine highlands of Mongolia, where our supplier works closely with local herders to ensure the highest quality fibers and ethical treatment of animals.
Our partner cultivates 8,600 acres of organic pastures in, Inner Mongolia, and uses the organic farming regulations of the United States and the European Union as the standard and the concept of natural green for cashmere goat breeding. They have the CU (CONTROL UNION Control Union) organic cashmere certifications, like ISO for Textiles — Quantitative analysis of cashmere, wool, other specialty animal fibres and their blends
Each piece is a testament to our dedication to sustainability, from responsible grazing practices that protect the environment, to the meticulous handcrafting techniques that enhance the durability and softness of our garments.
Our approach is not just about creating garments; it’s about honoring the heritage of cashmere craftsmanship and preserving the delicate balance of nature. Every step of our process, from sourcing to production, is guided by a respect for the environment and the communities we work with, ensuring that our luxurious pieces are as sustainable as they are beautiful.
